It was a fresh new day before the sun rose on Monday when that phone rang! It was TIME! He is definitely on his way. Nine months of anticipation, becoming accustomed to saying his name and wondering what he would look like, does he have ten fingers and toes? does he have hair? is it black like his dad’s? how much will he weigh? and the list goes on and on. At ten nineteen there was no more waiting. The lullaby at the hospital played and we rejoiced that our precious grandson had entered this world.
Memories flood your mind when a grandchild is born. You remember your own children and the day they were born. You remember where you were when that time came that you KNEW today is the day. You even remember somewhat the pain and the struggle of giving birth and certainly the discomfort following! But you also remember the wonderful mystery of it all, the miracle that God displays when that baby comes into the air and is able to breathe and to stretch completely for the first time. Psalm 139:13-14 floods your mind – “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” What an amazing process, one really too big for us to even wrap our minds around. How grateful we are for God, our Creator!
The work has just begun. Only God, his Creator, knows the plans He has for him, plans for a hope and a future, plans to prosper him and not to harm him. Only God will take what Satan means for evil and use it for good in his life. These grandparents pray that He will know and trust all of those promises very early in life and cling to them. His parents are blessed. “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.” Psalm 127:3
Praise be to God for his wonderful blessing!!
